butterflies

Stretch OK I had to use this photo - i think there'll be no comparison with the photos I'll be taking in the next few weeks, but I had to remind myself that Australia has beautiful mountain country too. I took this one a few years back when I took the kids skiing to falls creek, we had to have that one look back as we left - it always makes me sad the end of a holiday - wish they never ended :-)

So where am I sneaking off to? well you might remember last year we had quite a few friends from Switzerland come and visit us and they have been asking LOTS when we will come visit, so me and Steve are heading over there, sadly the kids can't come this time but we're hoping next year!

we have a short stopover in Hong Kong on the way there and back a night in london and then 8 days in Switzerland. apart from visiting with friends we're going to Mount pilatus - very big in folklore there and also featured in one of the james bond movies - anyone remember the big round hotel on a crag at the top of a mountain? OK OK I know sounds like most James Bond movies doesn't it? promise to share photos and you might remember then LOL. Annie also has a friend who lives up in the mountains in summer tending a heard of cows and making cheeses - yes she looks like Heidi and live in a cottage like Heidi LOL the photos I've seen look so cute. I'm sure there'll be amazing countryside all around, can't wait!

On the other hand it gives me butterflies a bit knowing I'll be on the other side of the world and the kids will be here, so glad that skype exists these days  though I'll be able to call them often for almost nothing! So glad that mum is coming to look after them too, just makes me relax about it  a bit.

Who's a clever girl then?

Hi

I've been meaning to share this all last week as I'm a very proud mummy! Firstly I do have to say that I think a certain young lady is way ahead of her times in more ways than one - hmmm she thinks (and sometimes behaves) as if she is a teen already.

So when she was asked to do a LO for the Blue Bazaar kids portal, she was very non commital and claimed "I don't scrap anymore" ok so I don't like to push them into things but any other time it would have been "when are we going to scrap together mum?" So a little more wheedling and still the answer was no. OK so what would any normal parent do - ask the other child of course. . . . . ah the magic Button! suddenly I had 2 kids begging me to let them do the LO.

Of course I thrive on stress so there was only time for Sian to do a LO, Declan had to concentrate on his homework. Apart from the odd bit of advice here and there this is all Sian's work - quite proud of her!

Frilly

But Wait there's more!!!!!!!!!

it was my birthday last weekend and without any guidance from me she made a decorated tin with an ATC style of card about her and one about Declan as well, and the filled it with crystals that she has picked out. Not to mention a mini book which she hand made from scratch to her own design - she must have been watching what I do or looking at other items carefully as she has never made one of these (or anything like it!) Thankyou Sian - I will treasure them always

challenges and other stuff

Hills Just love a challenge - a group I am on set a challenge recently and this is the result - using some of the pics I shared a few weeks back.

It's a birthdate challenge - you write down your birthdate and then use the numbers for certain elements mine was

1 - patterned papers

5 - buttons

o- tags

9 - ribbons

6 - photos

3 - fasteners a lot of fun doing it but wow 9 pieces of ribbon challenged me LOL

Icey This one is for the Blue Bazaar portal this week, the theme was felt -I love those jenni Bowlin sun shapes, a bit of paint, some backing of felt and lots of my favourite french knots add a few felt flags to the side and voila. I love this pic of Declan he's so skinny so although he loves the water and stays in for ages suddenly he'll look almost blue and start feeling the cold, I remember him shivering so much the day I took this photo.

Very excited about this weekend the family are all going to have a look at the old family homestead near Beaudesert, it's in a lot of disrepair apparently but I do remember it being a gorgeous old house, so I plan to take masses of photos and I can feel an album coming on!

That's all my news for now talk to you soon

early mornings

hmmm it seems almost perverse, we see it in children, each school morning they will sleep til the last moment and then drag themselves out of bed claiming to be too tired to go to school. Then comes the weekend and they leap out of bed at 6am, earlier in summer even! Just when you thought everyone could have a sleep in!

So here I am, Kids are at their Dad's house, Steve is away and I went to sleep last night thinking ahhhh I can sleep in in the morning, now I'm not one to sleep the day away all I ask for is maybe 8 am that would be bliss, so tell me why at 5.30 am my body decided it would be a good time to feel all awake and ready to go? hmmmm maybe tomorrow, Old age sets in tomorrow so maybe my poor old body will want to rest.

Not a huge amount to share this week, I've had Sian home for a few days with a cold - she had the achy bones and we thought maybe she had the flu but thankfully not just a miserable cold. Last week I had to wait for some work to be done on my car so took the opportunity to do a bit of digi scrapping amongst other things. I used some pics from our last holiday in Victoria and NSW.

Hotham

I do love being able to scrap anywhere so I think I'll always dabble in digi scrapping, so easy to take with you on holidays, just the laptop. I also spent some time trying to find my way around Vista. Now ok I only use this function for removing photos from my camera but the "move this folder" function has just disappeared! yes you can copy and paste but then I have to go back and delete the folder from the camera later turning a simple 1 step operation into a 3 step one. I know not the end of the world but man so annoying trying to find that button! :-))
